Nyarusiza - Washed - Rwanda (Filter Roast)
Structured and balanced with a fantastic length, this microlot presents delicate notes of dried mango, ruby grapefruit, and cherry. The coffee is produced by smallholder farmers of the Kawanziza Farmers' Group in the high hills surrounding Nyarusiza washing station in Rwanda.
Owned by the respected Buf Coffee company, the station provides jobs for 60 seasonal workers and upholds strict quality control standards under the supervision of Jean Pierre Ayirwanda and Eugenie Kanakuze.
The farmers of the Kawanziza Group, who named their association after the Kinyarwanda term for "beautiful coffee," are determined to deliver their cherry to the station on specific days of the week to ensure the separation and direct sale of their coffee as a specialty lot. This allows them to benefit directly from any higher prices for their exceptional coffee and support their families. Not only does this create an economic incentive, but it also encourages the farmers to work together to produce the highest quality coffee. The results speak
